NASHVILLE, Tenn.–A Tennessee lawmaker has proposed a bill that would create a tax free holiday for guns.
Tennessee State Representative Dennis Powers (R-Jacksboro) filed HB0744 on Wednesday, calling for a “Second Amendment sales tax holiday for the first weekend of each September of each year for firearms and ammunition.”
According to the Associated Press, Tennessee would not be the first to pass such legislation. Louisiana and Mississippi each hosted their own sales tax holiday weekends last year.
If passed, the first holiday weekend would take place this year.
